Aged Champagne that seems ageless, an unbelievable experience for me. It wasn’t about drinking the best or most expensive bottles, it was about studying aged Champagnes, w/ at least 15 years long bottle-aging. Some of the NV cuvées performed impressively well, these are bottles I genuinely appreciate: less residual sugar and less baroque. We tasted everything blind, Gosset was a stunner, Egly unmistakably Egly. You could tell his style isn’t quite like a big house, but it’s also not far off. Jacqueson was kind of boring, way less bubbly than the others and a bit flat. It’s a good study to see what was produced back in the day and how styles have changed over time or, in the case of most of these photographed bottles, sometimes hardly changed at all. #champagnestudy #champagnediary #winediary #champagnelover
