Badischer Landwein, alone as a sign of quality? Estate-Wine, Vorgrimmler, 2018, Spätburgunder Textbook Pinot. Firm-elegant tannins, it starts with sour cherries on the nose and continues with tobacco notes, dried mushrooms and forest floor. All the aromas are so clean and clear on the palate. Yes it has some new oak, but the oak effect is very much in the background. It more about focusing on creating an environment for producing tertiary aromas and not loud oaky flavours. And they are all there, dancing with the fresh cherries.
