A Begrüßungssekt anyone? Not an untypical question. Here and there. And all my love for Sekt shrinks in such a moment. 6 Flights and 18 German sparkling wines. (Check the very last photo to see how our blinded wine tasting was looking like.) And I can name only one sekt here, which brought me to those unpleasant sekt-memories. Griesel,2018, Pinot Noir Prestige Brut Nature: Obviously, the winner of the first flight for me. Its color was confusing. We suspect this is a blanc de noir. There is another point that we all agree in particular: It is definetly not an crowdpleaser. Zero Dosage, less than 3 gr residental sugar. It appears much more structruced than Vaux, Buhl and Barth roses. Long finish with a notiable salinity. Vaux, Rose Reserve Sekt, 2018: A big bold suprise! I only drank basic stuff from this house untill this tasting and to be honest, they were not memorable charachterictic ones. Rose Reserve Sekt 2018, 3,10. gr rs. Big and bold on the nose! You notice the the long maturation on lees. Brioche and baked apples. It indeed offers a wide spectrum of aromas, inluding floral notes. Beautiful! All Griesel sparkling wines performed very well. They do have their own recognizable quality, which made the last flight easier and tastier. I thought I had spent enough time at Oliver Zeter Fanclub and then I came across this Sauvignon Blanc Sekt! (Well, I've never heard about it.) An intensely aromatic nose! Very juicy (13,1 gr rs!) but not banal on the palate. Deg. 2020. I liked the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc sekt more. It has less exotic fruitiness and more balance. It's an easy-drinking sekt with a juicy acid-backbone. Zeters SB Sekt taught me something I've most likely overlooked till this tasting. My sekt problem was not about only residental sugar. Let me explain. F. B. Schönleber, Cuvee Katharina, Riesling Brut. 13,5 % alcohol. Ripe, sweet, too intense. Too much sweat and petroleum odor for my taste. It probably has less rs than Zeter's SB Sekt but it appears very slappy. #rieslingstudy #sekt #winesofinstagram #riesling
