Mainz is treading me right! A lunch at @steinstraube : Eric Rodez Cuvee des grand vintages (deg. 2021) So fresh and youthful and at the same time a serious champagne. Lingering playful red berries and saltiness. I like its clarity and sharpness. Feuervogel (2019) from Keller: Opened up beautifully within an hour. Lots of energy and tension. I enjoyed every sip of it. What a Silvaner! It felt propulsive. Frühburgunder (2009) S from Keller, definitely was a kind of surprise. That’s the nicest part of drinking in Mainz. Very gamy at the beginning. Earthiness with a big amount of pomegranate and cranberry juice. The fruitiness sweetens this one. Soft velvety texture. It did aged well.
