After enjoying her 2015 Cuvée Goulté (Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut) and Rosés a lot, I didn’t say no to Ledru’s basic cuvée (with around 20% Chardonnay and just a touch of dosage) in its most recent release from Ambonnay. This bottle, however, didn’t really speak to me. It felt rather rustic, with a very mature nose. Yes, it’s easy-going, but far from elegant or complex. Honestly, we found it quite boring and moved on to another producer. Here you go again: It’s definitely Instagrammable, but not particularly impressive. Still, I was happy to try it again, simply because opportunities to study her wines are rare. But if I return to her range, I’m surprised by how positive I am! The bottles are rare in Germany… That said, this bottle isn’t one I’d go chasing after. #champagnestudy #champagnelover #winediary #rarewine
